A $35 million expansion will highlight Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority’s annual report to the Oshawa community next week, with residents invited down to the Jubilee Pavilion on the waterfront next Tuesday to hear updates on projects and developments.

The port, which generates about 300 jobs in the region, has handled more than three million metric tonnes of cargo over the past decade – including  steel, salt, grain and asphalt – and welcomed 500-plus vessels during that period.

The second phase of the expansion of the grain terminal is underway, with a focus on improving access and traffic flow in and out of the harbour for farmers in the eastern GTA.

The newly expanded terminal opened last November and now offers a total of 20,000 metric tonnes of storage capacity and features a vessel loading rate of up to 12,000 tonnes per day, ensuring fast and efficient grain loading
