Cambridge industrial plant dealing with major damages after fire [Video]

A fire Saturday morning has a Cambridge industrial plant dealing with major damages.

North Dumfries Fire was called to Rife Road just off of Dumfries Road at around 8 a.m.

A section of the Permacon plant, a concrete manufacturer, was on fire.

North Dumfries Fire Chief Robert Shantz told CTV News that eight different fire departments were on scene with about 50 firefighters helping to knock down the fire.

He said a full response came from New Dundee’s fire department. They provided a tanker, a pumper and rescue truck, with eight other tankers coming from North Dumfries, Plattsville, Paris, Baden, Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.

An aerial truck came from both Kitchener and Cambridge.

The fire was knocked down completely and crews left the area at around 5 p.m.

Maintenance crews were inside at the time of the fire but were evacuated safely.

No injuries were reported.
