Canada weather: Winter storm, extreme cold plague provinces [Video]

A weekend winter storm that brought much of Canada under severe weather alerts continues to bring chilly conditions to Canadians across the country.

South of the border, U.S. residents from central and southern states, including the East Coast, faced similar weather including snow, ice, wind and extreme cold.

The Associated Press reported motorists were stranded, classes cancelled, government offices were shut down and power outages plagued several states including Kentucky, Indiana and West Virgina.

Western Canada

Residents of northern parts of Manitoba are in for a chilly start to their week.
