Canada wildfires send smoke to US cities this weekend including DC [Video]

Canadian wildfire smoke will make blow across the U.S. and possibly in the DMV this weekend.

WASHINGTON — As wildfires rage in Canada, smoke is drifting into the U.S., and some of it may end up in the D.C. Metro area as early as Saturday.

The fires have forced the evacuation of at least 17,000 people in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the western and central regions of Canada.

These intense fires are sending hazardous smoke toward the U.S. in the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes areas Friday and throughout the weekend. The smoke will drift over to areas such as Green Bay, Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit, where air some air quality alerts are going into effect. The wildfire smoke may also spread to other areas such as the Carolinas, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
