CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – The Canadian County Clerk’s Office is rolling out a new fraud alert notification system. It’s similar to the one used in Oklahoma County.
“Unfortunately, we are in that world that, you know, we want to protect things that we’ve paid for,” Sherry Murray, the Canadian County Clerk.

Murray said according to the FBI, property and mortgage fraud is one of the fastest growing crimes in America.
She isn’t aware of any cases in Canadian County, but earlier this year we told you about a southwest Oklahoma City woman who nearly lost her home because someone filed a fraudulent deed on her house.
The new monitoring system will send you an email if a document, such as a deed or lien, is recorded with your name, business name or legal description as it appears in the title. Murray said it gives property owners an …
