COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) – A Saskatchewan man was sentenced in federal court for a charge relating to the sexual assault of a minor Tuesday.

Quentin Joel Nighttraveller, 45, was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. Since there is no parole in the federal system, Nighttraveller will be required to serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his time in prison.

According to court documents, Nighttraveller, a commercial truck driver, drove the 14-year-old victim from Canada to the United States.

Documents say Nighttraveller sexually assaulted the victim in Rogers, Minnesota while he was getting his truck repaired.

Nighttraveller and the victim continued to travel, until the victim contacted authorities in Avoca, Iowa. Nighttraveller drove away after the victim escaped.
