Canadian post-secondary authorities are warning university faculty against travelling to the U.S. amidst policies introduced by President Donald Trump and his administration.

Last month, the Canadian Association of University Teachers released an advisory for post-secondary institutions warning against travel south of the border.

INsauga.com reached out to CAUT president Peter McInnis, who attested that while monitoring international attitudes towards academics has always been part of the job, no formal warning of this calibre has ever been drafted in the association’s history. 

“In the 75 years of our existence, we’ve never issued anything quite like this, and this is all happening alongside other warnings issued by the Government of Canada and Global Affairs Canada. So, as a result, we added content from those warnings into our advisory as well,” McInnis told INsauga.com.
