(WSAW) – Wildfire smoke from Manitoba and Saskatchewan has impacted air quality in Wisconsin.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, an initial round of smoke will move in from the northwest. It’s expected to reach northwest Wisconsin between noon and 3 p.m. before continuing southeast through the remainder of Friday and into Friday morning. For the next few days, air quality with be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
As a cold front drops south through Ontario on Friday, a dense plume of elevated wildfire smoke will reside over Wisconsin. After sunrise, vertical mixing will intensify and begin to tap into the elevated smoke, bringing it down to the surface.
As the front continues to drop south-southwest into Wisconsin on Saturday, smoke will push into western Wisconsin, while areas to the northeast could begin to see clearing.
