The majority of Masters Tournament victors have been in the U.S. — but especially in recent years, the list of countries represented with wins in Augusta is growing.
Back in 2013, Adam Scott became the first Australian golfer to win the tournament. In 2021, Hideki Matsuyama became the first Japanese player to win the Masters, making it 11 non-U.S. countries to have a player win the major.
While Canada certainly has a significant presence in the golf world, there isn’t a deep history of Canadian golfers winning the Masters. In fact, coming into the 2025 tournament, it’s only happened once.

A Canadian has won the Masters just once, back in 2003. Mike Weir won his only major title, becoming both the first player from his country to win the tournament, and the first left-hander to win it.
