Canadians looking to visit Brazil will soon need a visa.

The Government of Canada’s travel advice for the country notes that the requirement starts on Thursday, April 10.

And the new visa requirement isn’t just for Canadians.

“Starting from April 10, 2025, passport holders from Australia, Canada, and the United States will require a visa for entry,” the website for the Brazilian visa says.

“If you already possess a valid physical visa in your passport for your visit’s purpose, you do not need to apply for a new visa.”

The site recommends that even if travellers are scheduled to go to Brazil on April 9 — one day before the requirement takes effect — that they still apply “in advance to prevent travel disruptions caused by delays or missed connections.”

More information, including requirements and pricing, can be found on the Brazil eVisa website.
