Cape Breton weather: Snowfall warning remains in effect Wednesday [Video]

A snowfall warning remains in place in western Cape Breton Wednesday morning, leading to some school closures and power outages.

Environment Canada says a prolonged period of snowfall is expected bring 20 to 30 cm to the region until Thursday morning.

Gusty winds and blowing snow is also in the forecast.

Schools

Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education says classes are cancelled Wednesday for Middle River School due to a power outage.

Classes are also cancelled at CSAP’s NDA School in Chéticamp.

The Strait Regional Centre for Education says classes are cancelled at Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy and Pleasant Bay School due to weather conditions. Classes are also cancelled Inverness Education Centre/Academy due to a heating issue. Other Inverness County school buses are travelling on paved roads only due to road conditions.
