CAR RECALL: Almost 40,000 Teslas recalled in Canada [Video]

Tesla has issued a recall for thousands of vehicles in Canada due to a potential power steering issue.

The recall affects 38,601 vehicles, specifically 2023 Model 3 and Model Y units, with older software versions being most susceptible to the issue.

The issue stems from an overvoltage breakdown in the electronic power-assisted steering system, which may put stress on motor drive components in the printed circuit board. While the problem only occurs when the vehicle is stopped, it can persist once the car starts moving again.

Affected drivers may see a warning message: “Steering assist reduced. Steering may require increased effort.”

Risks: Loss of power steering assist could make steering more difficult, increasing the risk of a crash.
