According to police, a string of carjackings involving intentional collisions have been taking place in Ontario.
A report released today by York Regional Police issued a public warning concerning these crimes, as four incidents involving the same methodology have been reported since November of last year.
According to police, these perpetrators allegedly cause minor collisions by driving into the victim’s vehicle, after which, once the target leaves their vehicle to assess the damage, they will then be confronted by the assailant(s) who will then steal the target vehicle.
The reported incidents are as follows:
November 3, 2024 (Markham): A male victim was rear-ended by a Honda sedan, where upon exiting the vehicle to assess the damage, he was confronted by two suspects armed with firearms with one suspect stealing the victim’s Lexus, while the other drove away in their Honda.
November 20, 2024 (Markham): A male suspect on a bicycle collided with a victim’s Cadillac Escalade. Once the victim left to assess the damage, …
