Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet with premiers in early June as part of a busy six weeks ahead, when he will name a cabinet, write a Speech from the Throne that opens Parliament and craft spending measures before hosting a G7 summit in Alberta.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Wednesday urged Mr. Carney to take steps to repair national unity by extending olive branches to Alberta and Saskatchewan, arguing they were mistreated under the government of former prime minister Justin Trudeau.
The Prime Minister‘s Office said Mr. Carney will meet provincial leaders at a first ministers’ meeting June 2 in Saskatoon.
