WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A school principal got some special recognition at the New Hanover County Commissioners’ meeting for her response to the storms last month that flooded parts of New Hanover and Brunswick Counties.
Her school in Carolina Beach took a pretty hard hit.
County commissioners saluted Jennifer Angel’s actions as flood water started to rise in Carolina Beach Elementary School while kids were in class.
That’s when things got scary at the school considering no one was prepared for the storm that hit on Sept. 16.
Angel made all the calls that helped get every student home safely. Colleagues say Ms. Angel had worked to sandbag classroom doors as water started flowing in.
