Caution around waterways urged due to rain and snow melt in Brampton [Video]

Warmer weather and rain have conservationists urging caution around waterways in Brampton and the city says to be prepared in case of any flooding.

A Colorado Low weather system is expected to move into Ontario on Wednesday bringing heavy snow and rain.

And combined with warmer temperatures, the City of Brampton and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority are warning residents to be prepared for possible flooding.

Between 10 to 25 mm of rain could fall in southern Ontario on Wednesday in the GTA and across southern Ontario, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The combination of prolonged rain and lingering snowpack could lead to urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and places with poor drainage.

Residents in flood-prone areas should remain alert for rising water levels and make sure water has a path to drain.
