Cell phones auto crash detection software leads to DUI arrest [Video]

CROSS PLAINS, Tenn. (WSMV) – An iPhone feature that alerts 911 to a crash, led to the arrest of two men who allegedly tried to flee from the crash scene.

According to Smokey Barn News, the two men crashed their GMC Yukon near the Highway 49/25 interchange Sunday morning.

According to the report, first responders were alerted to the crash by auto-crash detection software from one of the occupants’ cell phones.

Smokey Barn News reports that when authorities arrived at the crash scene, no one was inside the SUV, prompting a search in the area.

Sebastian Gaspar Lopez, 27, and Nicolas Francisco Lopez, 29, were located a short time later. Smokey Barn reports one of the men was found in a barn and the other in a field.
