One person has been displaced following a fire that broke out in an apartment in a multi-unit building on Gloucester Street in Centretown Thursday night, Ottawa Fire Services says.

No injures were reported.

Fighters say they received a call at 9:21 p.m. reporting smoke was coming from a second-floor apartment in a residential building located in the 100 block of Gloucester Street.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, three minutes into the initial call, they saw smoke was coming from a window in the second floor of the building.

That was when they entered the building. When they entered the hallway of the second floor, they were met with a large amount of black smoke.

Firefighters then located the source of the fire in an apartment in the front hallway.

The fire was quickly extinguished and was declared under control just before 9:40 p.m.

Crews then searched the unit and did not find anyone …
