China Hits Back at Donald Trump Tariffs: ‘Serious Violation’ [Video]

The Beijing government has promised retaliation against U.S. President Donald Trump‘s new tariffs on Chinese exports after a raft of new trade measures also drew sharp condemnation from Mexico and Canada.

Why It Matters

The Trump administration hit Beijing with a 10-percent tariff, or a tax on foreign goods imported into the U.S., which is set to come into force on Tuesday.

The president also ordered 25-percent tariffs to be imposed on Canadian and Mexican imports. Trump had floated tariffs of up to 60 percent against China, prior to the November elections.
