The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted two Russian and two Chinese bombers near Alaska on July 24. A US defence official said was it the first time the Russian and Chinese bombers have been intercepted while operating together. The US and Canada, which together comprise NORAD, intercepted the Russian TU-95 Bear and Chinese H-6 bombers. The bombers remained in international airspace in ADIZ* and were “not seen as a threat,” according to a statement from NORAD. However, Russia and China said that the air patrol was not aimed at third party.
