The Christmas Cheer Breakfast, a cherished holiday tradition in the nation’s capital, returned Friday to raise funds for local organizations like the Ottawa Food Bank.

This year’s event set a record, raising $150,000 with the help of dozens of businesses to support 31 local charities. These funds will help ensure those in need have food on the table over the holidays.

“An event like this helps us do our work. We could just not do it without Ottawa,” says Rachael Wilson, Ottawa Food Bank CEO. “Unfortunately, one in four households in Ottawa are food insecure now and we’ve seen an increase of 90 per cent in the number of visits since 2019. The need is historic and unprecedented. Events like this helps people not only at the holidays, but throughout the rest of the winter. We will be supporting families for weeks to come.”
