Christmas Day fire injures 2 in west Edmonton [Video]

Two teens were hospitalized after a fire broke out at an apartment building in west Edmonton Christmas Day.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) said the fire was called in on the second floor of the building at 6:33 p.m.

The two teens were rescued, EFRS said, and taken to hospital. No details on their ages or the extent of their injuries has been given.

EFRS said the fire was brought under control by 7:10 p.m. and did not spread to any other floors of the building. It was declared out at 10:28 p.m.

An ETS bus was on site to shelter residents evacuated from the building, and 10 residents required additional support from an Emergency Support Response Team.

On Friday, the building could be seen with multiple second-floor windows boarded up.
