Cities that got the most snow in southern Ontario [Video]

This Family Day long weekend was one to remember, but not for the reasons many hoped. Instead of relaxing getaways and outdoor fun, many Ontarians spent their time shovelling sidewalks, rescheduling plans and navigating snow-covered streets.

While the snow has finally eased, with cloudy skies giving way to patches of sunshine, it seems like the worst is over.

Environment and Climate Change Canada—the country’s official weather authority has recorded substantial snowfall totals as of 1 a.m. Monday ( Feb. 17) with some reports provided by volunteer observers.

Here’s a look at which areas saw the heaviest snowfall over the weekend:

  • Ottawa: 37.4 cm
  • Hamilton: 32 cm
  • Trenton: 31 cm
  • Wiarton: 25 cm
  • Toronto Pearson Airport: 25.0 cm
  • London: 16 cm (excluding snow squalls)

Alongside official measurements, volunteers across the region sent in their snowfall totals, providing a more localized look at the weekend storm:
