The City of Kitchener helped residents welcome the new year with a special celebration at city hall.
The mayor and city council members were on hand for a free carnival-themed New Year’s Levee on Sunday.
The festivities included games, live music and some light refreshments.
“This is an annual tradition with our New Year’s Levee that’s been going on for as long as I can remember,” Mayor Berry Vrbanovic said. “It’s great to see the community come out, enjoy a variety of activities for kids and family members from skating, which happens obviously every day here, but also music and face painting and balloon making and other games and activities.”
Sunday’s celebration followed a free New Year’s Eve event in front of city hall on Tuesday.
Vrbanovic said there are more fun times ahead.
