Cleanup underway after rockslide derails train in B.C. [Video]

No injuries were reported after a rockslide derailed a freight train, sending railcars into British Columbia’s Fraser River, on Sunday night.

CN Rail says 12 grain cars operated by Canadian Pacific Kansas City were knocked off the company’s mainline track east of Boston Bar.

Crews worked through the night to clear the derailment area of debris and work was still underway Monday to retore the track before resuming service later in the day, company spokesperson Ashley Michnowski said in a statement.

“Cleanup of the derailed rail cars and grain will continue over the coming days and weeks,” she added.

The derailment did not spark any fires or release any dangerous goods, according to the company.

Video posted online shows several railcars overturned on an embankment leading into the Fraser River, with other cars either submerged or partially submerged in the water.
