Cleveland Fire responds to blaze outside The Justice Center [Video]

VIDEO: Explosion caught on camera as crews respond to underground electrical fire.

Officials said the fire was contained as of 12:15 p.m. No injuries were reported. 

Lakeside Avenue between West 3rd Street and Ontario Street was closed for several hours, as was the Justice Center complex. Cuyahoga County authorities also advised that there would be “intermittent power outages in the area from East 21st Street to West 9th Street between Lakeside and Huron throughout the day.”

So how all of this happen?

“We had a domino effect here on Lakeside (Avenue), and it was a water main break which put down a transformer on Lakeside, which caused a small fire,” explained Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne.

Ronayne says electrical crews rushed in to turn the power off. 

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Division of Fire worked to shut down the area. Cleveland fire Lt. Mike Norman said firefighters had to let the fire burn out on its own …
