Station Hope pays homage to Cleveland’s social justice heritage at St. John’s Episcopal Church, which served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

CLEVELAND — For the last 11 years, Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) has transformed Ohio City into a festival of theater pieces, musical performances, and art work in an event called “Station Hope.”

The celebration pays homage to the history of the neighborhood and St. John’s Episcopal Church as a final stop on the Underground Railroad.

“The people in this community would join together to house people who were traveling to Canada seeking that freedom. And this church particularly, was a place where people were housed, where people were hidden,” explained Cleveland Public Theatre’s Raymond Bobgan.

Bobgan told 3News that CPT was excited to put the event on again this year, but ran into some logistical problems.
