A Danish retail chain that specializes in household goods, furniture and home decor is pulling out of its location in an Ontario town near Toronto.

Jysk, located in a plaza at the northeast corner of Kerr Street and Speers Road in Oakville, has announced that Sunday, May 11, will be its last day of operation.

The store has been located in the plaza known as Oakville Commons since 2011.

“Sorry to see this place go. I’ve bought a lot of things at Jysk over the years. Another one bites the dust,” said one commenter on an Oakville-based Facebook group.

Jysk operates over 3,400 stores across 48 countries and was founded in Denmark in 1979. The store is considered the country’s largest international retailer. It has been in Canada since 1996 and has been operating 68 stores across the country.
