It’s fair to say that winter conditions have long since arrived in Manitoba, which makes it a bit strange to consider that Friday is the last full day of autumn.

Winter officially arrives in the province with the solstice at 3:20 a.m. Saturday.

With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, so are warmer temperatures – just not so much today.

Daytime highs in the southeast and in northwestern Ontario, where the sun will be shining, will only reach highs in the upper minus teens.

Temperatures won’t be quite as cold in the southwest, where sky conditions are cloudier this afternoon.

Northern Manitoba will bask in the sunshine with highs in the -20s.

Ahead tonight, a relatively weak disturbance could bring a light dusting of flurries across the south and snow to the north.

Temperatures will also rise overnight in many parts of the province, including Winnipeg.
