COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife said a Colorado gray wolf was reported dead after crossing into Wyoming on March 16.

The gray wolf was part of a pack of wolves translocated into Colorado from British Columbia in January as part of a restoration and management plan to create a “permanent, self-sustaining gray wolf population in Colorado.”

Parks and Wildlife said the death was confirmed to occur in north/central Wyoming.

According to Parks and Wildlife, the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service in Wyoming was conducting livestock depredation mitigation as a response to livestock losses within the state.

Parks and Wildlife said they do not comment on wildlife movements, operations or regulations that occur outside of Colorado.
