Embattled Pickering Councillor Lisa Robinson will appeal a judicial review decision at Ontario Divisional Court that denied her compensation request from the City of Pickering and ordered her to pay $30,000 in court costs.
“This ruling is deeply concerning not just for me, but for all elected officials in Ontario and across Canada, Robinson told INdurham. “I was sanctioned based on misleading complaints and outright lies and the court accepted them without fully testing the truth. That’s not justice. This was a clear abuse of process.”
Robinson has seen her pay docked four times for repeated Code of Conduct violations – the latest two for 90 days each, the strongest penalty allowed – and asked for a judicial review to recoup her losses.
