Ontario Provincial Police say a driver with a prior stunt driving conviction was recently stopped on Highway 417 in Ottawa and charged with another count of stunt driving.

The driver was recorded going nearly 60 km/h above the speed limit, police said.

If convicted, the driver could be banned from driving for three years, in addition to paying a minimum $2,000 fine and receiving six demerit points.

Another stunt driver was also recently stopped on Highway 417 allegedly weaving through lanes.

Police said the individual “decided the HOV lane wasn’t moving fast enough” and was recorded at a speed of 152 km/h.

Both drivers received immediate 30-day licence suspensions and their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.
