Cops cleared in takedown that led to broken wrist of armed man in Mississauga [Video]

There was no wrongdoing by cops in the takedown of an armed man hit with a Taser multiple times that led to a broken wrist in Mississauga, Ontario’s police watchdog says.

The arrest happened in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 when Peel Regional Police were on a “proactive patrol” at a business near Torbram Road and Drew Road in Mississauga, the Special Investigations Unit says.

That’s when an officer spotted two men who appeared “hypervigilant” and were “displaying characteristics of an armed person,” investigators say.

Officers approached the two men and told them they were under arrest for possession of a firearm, and a search revealed one of the men was in possession of a Glock 27 handgun.

The SIU says one of the officers searched a satchel slung across one of the suspect’s body and “felt an object consistent with a firearm.”
