Coroner identifies Summerville man as victim of weekend crash [Video]

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Dorchester County Coroner has identified the victim of a weekend crash.

Tyler Sowder, 24, of Summerville, was pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m.

Sgt. Tyler Tidwell says a car was traveling north on US-17 alternate near Clubhouse Road at approximately 11:35 Saturday night when it ran off the road to the left, then the right, struck a ditch, overturned and hit a utility pole.

He says the driver of the 2001 GMC Yukon, now identified as Sowder, was the only one in the car at the time of the crash.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner are investigating.
