A 35-year-old woman has been charged with criminal negligence causing death six months after a nine-year-old girl was killed in an ATV rollover in North Frontenac Township.

Frontenac OPP, assisted by the North Frontenac Fire Service and the Frontenac Paramedic Service, responded to an emergency call on October 24 after a passerby spotted an overturned ATV and an injured child in a ditch on Greer Road.

The OPP said in October the girl was driving the ATV at the time of the accident with two young passengers, who went to a nearby home for help. They suffered minor injuries.

The girl, who lived in the area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Candace McFarland, a North Frontenac resident, was arrested Tuesday. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.
