A GO train line that would cut across Toronto is being promised by Ontario Conservatives if the party is re-elected.
In an announcement made in Brampton today, Brampton South PC candidate Prabmeet Sarkaria, who is currently the province’s Transportation Minister, said the new Toronto line will be part of a massive upgrade to GO service across Southern Ontario.
The project, called GO 2.0, would not only see a new Toronto line but also bring direct service from Bolton to Union Station, more lines into York Region and expanded two-way service for Kitchener and Milton passengers.
To accommodate the upgrade, 23 new stations would be built across the Golden Horseshoe.
The Conservatives also plan to lay down tracks adjacent to Highway 407 in Peel Region that will be used exclusively for freight traffic.
