HARRISBURG, Pa. — A former Dauphin County resident will serve up to 97 months in federal prison after being found guilty of receiving child pornography.
Dylan Ruppert, 29, formerly of Halifax, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. Middle District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson, according to Acting U.S. Attorney John Gurganus.
In August 2023, Gurganus said, authorities recovered 65 files depicting child pornography from a phone belonging to Ruppert during a search of his home.
Police later recovered communications between Ruppert and another person where he said he wanted to groom a child to engage in sexual activity.
Authorities began investigating Ruppert when the person he was communicating with was arrested in Florida.
