Daylight saving time starts this weekend in Ontario and most of Canada.

This year, the time to move clocks forward one hour or “spring forward” is on Sunday, March 9 at 2 a.m. Daylight saving time ends on Nov. 2 in 2025.

Not all of Canada follows daylight saving time — the Yukon, most of Saskatchewan and some parts of British Columbia and Quebec stay on standard time.

For the rest of the country, daylight saving can be particularly hard in the spring when it feels like we are losing an hour of sleep. At this time people wonder why this practice started.
