Design for new P.E.I. school unveiled [Video]

Design plans for a new school in Prince Edward Island that will replace one damaged during Hurricane Fiona two years ago were unveiled Monday.

The new school, called École Évangéline, will be built on the same site as the old building in Évangéline.

The school will hold 225 school-aged students, 56 preschool children in the early years centre, and 15 students enrolled in before- and after-school care programs.

The school will also feature new office space for la Commission scolaire de langue française, an Acadian and Francophone arts and cultural centre, a public library, and an expanded early years centre.

The school was designed to be fully electric and a net-zero facility, incorporating energy efficient systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
