US President Donald Trump spoke to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for the first time since Carney took office. Trump said the two leaders had an “extremely productive” first call with PM Carney, even as the two North American allies are in the midst of a tariff war. Carney sets a different precedent as Canadian leaders have made a call to their US counterpart a priority soon after becoming Prime Minister.
