Chiropractor Julia Benati is about to make one of the biggest adjustments of her life.
The Dorchester, Ont. native is taking a leave from her clinic to pursue a professional contract after signing with the Ottawa Rapid FC franchise in the new Northern Super League (NSL).
“We’re going to have my father come back as a chiropractor in the clinic, and he’s going to kind of come out of retirement for the span of the season,” said Benati.
“It definitely takes the weight off my shoulders knowing that my patients will be in good hands still, but I don’t think he’s too thrilled I’m uprooting his travel phase right now,” she said.
This week, Benati became the first player announced by Ottawa, one of the six franchises in the new domestic women’s professional league.
