An Ottawa resident facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash on the Queensway registered nearly four times the legal limit of alcohol, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on the Highway 417 off-ramp at Riverside Drive shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.
“Officers noted that the driver had an odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath,” the OPP said in a statement.
“An approved screening device was utilized, and the driver was transported to Ottawa Detachment for additional testing. The driver then registered nearly four times the legal limit.”
The driver is facing charges of operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero.
