DULUTH, Ga. — The Duluth Police Department has welcomed a new four-legged member to its task force: K-9 Ava.

K-9 Ava, a highly trained yellow Labrador Retriever, is ready to serve the community alongside her handler, Officer Olan Stubbs. She specializes in tracking and training, which will help find missing people- including lost children and potential suspects on the run, a release from the police department stated.

“Her training and keen sense of smell will enhance our department’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies, further strengthening our commitment to public safety,” the police department added.

Officer Stubbs has completed the training program to work with K-9 Ava. The police department hopes their combined skills will help serve and protect the City of Duluth.
