Earl Hebner feared for his life when he returned to Montreal, Quebec, Canada to serve as a referee during TNA Wrestling’s Slammiversary 2024 pay-per-view event.

During an X-Division title match, Mustafa Ali brought in Hebner to help him but Earl refused to call the match for Ali against ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey.

On a recent edition of the “Reffin It Up” podcast, Earl recalled fearing that things would turn nasty when he returned to Montreal. He said,

“When they called me and asked me, I wouldn’t give them an answer. I said, ‘I don’t know. I could get killed over there going back.’ It had been so long since I had been there.”

Hebner also recalled coming out to boos at the event, saying he was booed more than Hulk Hogan was booed during RAW’s debut on Netflix.
