Edmonton Police Commission gets 4 new members [Video]

Four new members have been appointed to the Edmonton Police Commission.

The city announced on Friday that Carola Cunningham, Zahro Hassan, Daniel Jones and Renée Vaugeois would be joining the commission on a two-year contract.

Cunningham is the former CEO of NiGiNan Housing Ventures, an Indigenous-led charity focused on housing.

Hassan is an education policy expert and a lecturer at the University of Alberta, who has previously worked with the City of Edmonton, the Government of Alberta and Boyle Street Community Services.

Jones is a criminologist and a former Edmonton police officer, and is currently the chair of justice studies at NorQuest College.

Vaugeois, executive director of the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights, has co-founded multiple human rights initiatives and has worked with the Canadian Human Rights Commission and Alberta’s Officer of the Child and Youth Advocate.
