Edmonton weather for Jan. 10: Warm end to week [Video]

Precipitation is playing a bigger factor in the forecast over these next few days than it has in a while.

We’re dealing with some scattered pockets of showers and mixed precipitation in the Edmonton area early this morning and there’s some heavier rain/snow mix in areas from Edson southeast toward Red Deer.

Roads are likely slick this morning, although 511 isn’t reporting any significantly ice-covered highways in those areas or around Edmonton.

The precipitation will flip over to showers this afternoon in areas from Red Deer east toward the Saskatchewan border.

Edmonton should be done with the scattered precipitation by late this morning or midday.

We’ll see some sunny breaks develop briefly this afternoon.

Temperatures will climb to the 5 C range this afternoon and then a brisk and cool northwest flow will develop tonight with a little cold front set to sweep through.
