We’re in the midst of a big warm-up that has daytime highs above 0 C for the past six days and it looks like we’ll get four more days of warmth before some cold air slams back in.

Daytime highs near 5 C are expected for today, Tuesday and Wednesday in the city and a degree or two above 0 C again Thursday.

That’s (obviously) WELL above average for mid-January. The long-term average high for this time of year is around -6 C.

BUT…it’s not at all unusual to get one or more warm spells like this in January. In fact, it happens almost every year.
