In a weather forecast update on Thursday, Environment Canada meteorologist Steven Flisfeder said that despite “a lot of talk of El Niño” about the recent record-setting wildfires and heat waves across the country, he believes the weather phenomenon doesn’t typically have a large effect for Ontario throughout the summertime. “It’s more of an effect throughout the wintertime. So right now it’s really just a push of warmer, humid air from the south of the United States,” Flisfeder said.
