Elderly man out for a walk assaulted, robbed in Ontario town [Video]

Police are on the hunt for a suspect wanted in the assault and street-level robbery of an elderly man in Whitby last Thursday.

Police say the victim was out for a walk near Pilkington Crescent and Bradley Drive at 8:40 p.m. when he approached from behind by a man who grabbed him and demanded money.

Police say the elderly man attempted to fight off the suspect but was struck in the face.

He was taken to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers, including the canine and tactical units searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as white, shorter than six feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a grey/black hooded sweater.
