Eldon House has closed two of the display rooms at the heritage site for January.
The drawing room and the upstairs display bathroom are closed for several weeks for plaster repair, painting and other work.
Eldon House said it aims to preserve the building and collections through regular maintenance and repairs. The closures are said to be part of a bigger project to preserve spaces that get regular use.
The rest of the museum is still open. Any questions can be directed to museum staff.
The drawing room and upstairs bathroom are expected to re-open on Feb. 1.
